- Expand or collapse a branch. Tap its right-pointing chevron to open it; tap the down-pointing chevron to close it. Select the item name to see details without changing expansion.
- Expand All opens every branch in the outline.
- Collapse All closes every branch.
- ReadRead a source. Select a reference to see its details card. Choose Read beside the selected outline item, or in the expanded card, to open the passage. Back returns to the details or outline.
- ↗Verify a source. Select a reference to show its explanation and passage in the reading pane. Select a parent to see its explanation and a list of readings below it.
- Show or hide the reading pane. Use this button to reopen the reader after closing it.
- Explore the details card. Selecting an item opens a preview automatically. Tap its header or drag upward to expand it. For parents, the reading count signals a list available below the explanation when expanded. At the top of the card, swipe down to shrink it; swipe down again to dismiss. You can also use the sizing and close buttons.
- Read allRead a collection. Expand a parent’s card, then choose a reading or Read all beside the reading count. Read all opens the first passage; press Play to start listening.
- Read allRead a collection. In a parent’s reading list, choose an individual source or Read all to open the first passage. Back to readings returns to the list. Press Play to start listening.
- ‹ ›Move between readings. The bottom arrows move through the collection. The path shows where the passage belongs, with the collection’s parent in bold; the count shows your position.
- ▷Listen and pause. The circular play button controls the current recording; its ring shows progress. The audio icon beside the settings cog reveals the player and timeline for seeking.
- Reading settings. Open the cog to change speed, Follow audio, or Continue to next reading. Translation and surrounding-text options appear where available. Follow audio keeps the spoken text in view; the target icon returns to the selected passage when surrounding text is shown.
- ▷▷Continuous listening. Continue to next reading is on by default. In a collection, either play control continues through the recordings until you pause or reach the end. Turn it off in settings to stop after each reading.
- Find a source by author, work, or reference—for example, Tacitus.
- Return using the breadcrumb path. Select a name to return to that item. The last name also reveals your current selection after collapsing branches.
- Expand the reader over the outline; restore split view to see both again.
- Hide the explanation for more passage space. Use the same control to show it again.
Keyboard: In the outline, ↑/↓ moves between visible items; → expands a branch or enters it; ← collapses it or moves to its parent. Home/End moves to the first/last visible item. Type the start of a name to find a visible item. Enter or Space selects the focused item; moving focus alone does not change the reader. Tab and Shift+Tab move between controls. Ctrl/Cmd+K opens search. Escape closes this help. F6 moves between outline and reader.
